Ahead of the three-day Raja festivities which begins on Monday, the Southwest Monsoon covered entire Odisha on Sunday. As a result, several parts of the State continue to experience heavy rainfall under its influence, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday.

A yellow warning has been sounded by the IMD predicting rain and thunderstorm in several parts of the State in the next 24 hours. As per IMD, squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 40 -50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely over off Odisha coast and North Bay of Bengal adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal till June 15.

“The low pressure area over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal persists. Associated cyclonic circulation extends upto mid-tropospheric levels tilting southwest wards with height. It is likely to move west-northwest wards across Odisha, Jharkhand and North Chhattisgarh during next 2-3 days,” said the IMD .

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj and heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack, Bhadrak, Balasore , Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Khordha and Puri.

Day-1: (Valid upto 0830 Hrs IST of 14.06.21): Light to moderate rain or thundershower likely to occur at most places over the districts north Odisha and many places over the districts of south Odisha.

Day-2: (Valid from 0830 Hrs IST of 14.06.21 to 0830 Hrs IST of 15.06.21.)

Coronavirus Update | 2021 | may 15 | Odisha’s Covid Tally Crosses 6 Lakh Grim Milestone With 11k Plus Fresh Cases, 21 Deaths

Bhubaneswar: Odisha on Saturday witnessed a concerning figure in the single-day covid cases with 11, 805 more people testing positive for the contagious disease in last 24 hours taking the cumulative virus infection count to 6,00,492.

Similarly, State’s overall fatalities went up to 2294 with 21 more patients succumbing to the deadly virus in last 24 hours.

 Khordha district reported maximum four deaths followed by Angul which saw three fatalities in last 24 hours. Similarly, two deaths have been reported each from Kalahandi, Kendrapara, Puri, Rayagada and Sundergarh districts. 

 One patient succumbed to the virus each in Boudh, Gajapati, Koraput and Nupapada districts.

Of the new positive cases, 6,611 have been detected from quarantine centers while 5,194 are local infections.

As many as 9,329 patients recovered during the period taking the total recoveries to 491674 in the State. With new recoveries, the State’s active cases stood at 106471.

Khordha district has reported maximum 1,414 new cases out of which a bulk of infections have been reported from Capital city Bhubaneswar.

 Sundergarh and Cuttack continue to be the second and third worst-hit districts with 1,209 and 1,197 fresh cases detected in last 24 hours.

Bargarh district witnessed 421 new cases while 392 fresh infections have been detected from Jajpur, 338 from Puri, 374 from Mayurbhanj, 377 from Kalahandi, 327 from Jharsuguda, 331 from Ganjam, 358 from Bolangir and 307 from Nuapada district.
Nayagarh and Dhenkanal districts registered 280 fresh positive cases each.

Angul district with 668 cases remained next to Cuttack while Sambalpur turned the next severely affected region with 553 fresh infections.

As many as 274 more people tested positive in Jagatsinghpur district while 246 new cases have been detected from Boudh and 239 from Nabarangpur. 

Malkangiri and Kandhamal continue to remain in the bottom of the row registering below 100 cases. Both the districts reported 94 and 83 new infections respectively during the period.

As many as 284 cases were traced from State pool.

Bhubaneswar: Steady rise in the number of daily Covid-19 positive cases in the capital city continued unabated with 1048 fresh cases detected from various parts of the city in the last 24 hours.

With the new cases, the active caseload in the city has now climbed up to 10,060. Out of the new cases, 151 persons are in quarantine while the rest 897 are local contact cases.

The most, 45 cases have been reported from Patia area followed by Nayapalli (44). As many as 33 fresh cases have been detected from Laxmisagar area.

Similarly, Old Town registered 29 cases while Sundarapada and Unit-9 witnessed 27 cases each. Unit-3 registered 25 cases in the last 24 hours. Likewise, Sailashree Vihar witnessed 24 cases. VSS Nagar and Saheed Nagar registered 19 cases each.

Meanwhile, as many as 848 patients have also been declared free from the virus infection on Friday.

So far, 51,496 Covid-19 positive cases have been detected in the city out of which 41,136 have recovered, 279 have succumbed. As many as 10,060 Covid-19 patients are under treatment at present.

Odisha Covid-19 Update | may 6 | Bhubaneswar Registers Fresh 1118 Covid-19 Positive Cases In 24 Hrs

Bhubaneswar: Steady rise in the number of daily Covid-19 positive cases in the State capital city continued unabated with 1118 fresh cases detected from various parts of the city in the last 24 hours on Thursday.

With the new cases, the active caseload in the city has now climbed up to 9,861. Out of the new cases, 185 persons are in quarantine while the rest 933 are local contact cases.

The most 48 cases have been reported from Nayapalli area followed by Baramunda (40). As many as 37 fresh cases have been detected from Chandrasekharpur.

Similarly, Khandagiri registered 35 cases while Dumduma witnessed 27 cases, Mancheswar registered 25 cases in the last 24 hours. Likewise, Laxmisagar, Baragada and Jharpada registered 24, 22 and 21 cases respectively.

Meanwhile, as many as 673 patients have also been declared free from the virus infection in the past one day.

So far, 50,448 Covid-19 positive cases have been detected in the city out of which 40,288 have recovered, 278 have succumbed. As many as 9,861 Covid-19 patients are under treatment at present.
